New Zealand baritone HADLEIGH ADAMS (Street Chorus) returns to the Los Angeles Philharmonic after last year’s appearances in Lou Harrison’s Young Caesar and in Annie Gosfield’s War of the Worlds. Spotlighted in an Opera News “Sound Bites” feature, he has received international acclaim for his performances on stage and in concert. Over the past two seasons, Adams made his debuts with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra (under the baton of Esa Pekka Salonen), Michigan Opera Theatre, Cincinnati Opera, the Colorado Symphony, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Omaha, West Edge Opera, and the Oakland Symphony. He has performed regularly with the San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Symphony, and Opera Parallèle.
Adams studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and made his professional debut at London’s Royal National Theatre, singing the role of Christ in Jonathan Miller’s production of Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion. He has performed in concert at London’s St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the London Song Recital series, and in Wigmore Hall’s Voiceworks series.
This season includes performances with the American Repertory Theater at BAM, with Minnesota Opera, Atlanta Symphony, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and San Francisco Symphony. hadleighadams.com
