Mezzo-soprano SUSAN GRAHAM, one of the world’s foremost stars of opera and recital, is a compelling and versatile Grammy Award-winning singing actress. Celebrated as an expert in French music, Graham has been honored by the French government with the title of “Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur.” After winning acclaim in the Boston Symphony’s Der Rosenkavalier last season, she returned to the orchestra in October in the signature role of Marguerite in Berlioz’ La Damnation de Faust, with Charles Dutoit on the podium; in the spring, she sings another French masterwork – Ravel’s Shéhérazade – with the San Francisco Symphony. In another season highlight, Graham returns to the Metropolitan Opera in December to reprise her “vivacious and creamy-voiced” (The New York Times) account of the title role in Susan Stroman’s production of Lehár’s The Merry Widow. 2018 finds her at Chicago’s Lyric Opera, where she’ll join baritone Nathan Gunn and Broadway star Kate Baldwin to celebrate 100 years of the great Leonard Bernstein in a concert performance of his one-act opera, Trouble in Tahiti. She rounds out the season with a new role, starring in Marc Blitzstein’s Regina with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. Graham is thrilled to have the opportunity to sing with her stepson and stepdaughter who are members of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus Intermediate Choir.
